SIGGRAPH 2006 :: day -1

Everyone from Dallas is arriving in Boston day by day. There are many returning attendees, and quite a few new ones! Hopefully, this blog will gain much input.

How did we skip two years on this blog? I think I forgot I had it in 2004 & 2005. Luckily, the internet is both dynamic & persistent.

Boston seem like a great place for the conference. The Convention Center is huge: the exhibit floor only takes up the front 1/3 of the exhibit space! And the hotels are easy to reach by the T. There are numerous great restaurants. I've already eaten at "The Legal Test Kitchen" and "Marriano's Little Italy" and "Fargo's Deli Of Course" -- all were delicious.

We walked around the conference center as setup was occuring. I visited with Exhibits Management and the Student Volunteers. We had dinner tonight with the Chapter leaders, and we'll be in a workshop tomorrow all day long.

back to my personal blog...

apparently, i'm too busy to blog...

the Universe is Flat! the Universe is Closed! according to today's keynote speaker, Anthony Lasenby, who showed up with a new mathematical language to prove it. He showed many different possible models for the universe (spherical, flat, hyperbolic) and compared the expected behaviors to the observations taken of our own universe. "We may be close to understanding the origin and fate of the Universe.)

last night the sake was nice.

thumbnails later this afternoon, links tonight. [i'm author the gallery myself...i switch to a photoblog soon.]

all day today i've been the Professional Chapters workshop...about 80 people from around the world who organize the local activities of ACM SIGGRAPH. We had four people attending the workshop from our Dallas chapter.

I finally got the wireless network and a new blogger account working while sitting here in the ACM SIGGRAPH Chapters area. We did two hours of booth duty (Brandon, Jay, and I) and now we're off to Ole Madrid (the cgchannel.com party) to learn Flamenco! yes, i'll take some pictures...
